


Atarazana Monument
Constructed by Diego Colon in 1514. Now day used as restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. The building, constructed with bricks, with stone columns in the entrance, was used as a deposit of merchandise of exporting and customs.
In the year 1520, composed by the Palace of the Capitans and Generals of the colony, which was the residence of the governor and home of the Real Audience, first in America. Restored and changed into a museum in 1976, visited by the Kings Juan Carlos and Sofia. Consider to be a historic event due that they were the only Spanish kings who visited Santo Domingo.
Construído en el 1823 por el Gobernador Gerónimo Borgellá, fungía como sede de Gobierno; edificio con doble galería en ladrillo de vista, semejante al Alcázar de Colón. En el 1844 funcionó el Tribunal; del 1942 al 1960 fue sede del Senado; y en el 1978 salón de exposición de la Alta Escuela de Pintura y de Escultura.
